Sky box with 2 magic eyes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I currently have a sky box connected via hdmi cable to tv 1. From the back of the sky box I have a coax cable that runs to tv 2 in another room with a magic eye connected so the sky box can be controlled from the other room.

What I want to do is hide away the sky box in a cupboard (out of reach from 2 young kids) and retain full use. To do this I have bought a second magic eye and a magic eye splitter kit from eBay.

To get the second magic eye and tv 1 working as normal, how to I connect it up?

              > coax to tv 1 with magic eye

Splitter

              > coax to tv 2 with magic eye

Which means the hdmi cable is now redundant or is there another/better way to do it?

I haven't got any bits of coax cable free, otherwise I would try out what I think needs to be done.

Thanks.

There used to be a remote app for the SKY box. You just need you box connected to your router. I used my phone this way for a while until i got off my bum and went and bought a replacement remote control :D

Update: There still is :D it's in your SKY+ app

Have you tried controlling your sky box with your phone yet?

I have, but it's a bit of a faff compared to a remote.

I ended up buying some coax cable and hooking it all up. First tv still has the hdmi cable from the sky box and coax cable runs from the splitter fitted to the back of the sky box to the magic eye. I expected to have to run coax cable from the magic eye to the back of the tv (to complete the 'circuit'), but didn't need to.
