Removing OBDeleven Dongle

Featured Replies

Hi, Just bought OBDdeleven diagnostics dongle.  I am quite impressed with it.  I had an airbag light problem.  It correctly diagnosed problem with connection to drivers door sensor and when fixed I cleared the fault code.

However one problem I have is the dongle when fitted to the diagnostic port is flush with the plastic trim and only one side of the dongle is accessable.   So it is very difficult to remove without breaking nails!

Has anyone had the same problem with a Octavia Mk2 and found a good solution?

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

You can buy OBD extension leads, otherwise a loop of tape/string around the unit might help.

Sounds like you could do with the dent removal method...

Try getting a hot glue gun and glueing something with a flat, circular head. Let the glue set, then you should be able to pull gently to remove the item. Then, you will just need to remove the glue. If you actually used a small U-shaped handle, you could even keep it there to use next time round! Hope that idea makes sense and works for you.

BTW, I think you mean OBD11 (Roman 2). I could be wrong.

I just put a 10mm wide strip of duct tape on my my Carista to form a finger loop. Another piece of tape inside the finger part - sticky to sticky. Works a treat, easy to extract and collapses to fit in the case the Carista came in.

Hi, Thanks for replies.  I have seen the extension that OBDeleven sell but that is another £12 or so with postaage.  The piece of string/fishing line would probable work OK and the tape also is a good idea.  I will give both a try.

By the way, it is OBDeleven see obdeleven.com.

Hi, To update and finish this post.  I used thin strong string tied around the body to form pull off loops.  This works fine and makes the dongle easy to remove.

By the way I have found the OBDeleven very useful.  I cleared the airbag warning light after repairing a broken wire and used the "transfer pump test" function to run the pump in the fuel tank to prime the fuel system after doing a fuel filter filter change.

So far this AirPod hack has been working for a while now for me.IMG_20210626_203949.thumb.jpg.4342e1a5722b63b025467fbdf098f28b.jpg
