No Boost!!!

Featured Replies

Have got an 02 Elegance 110TDi Estate, which has done more than a few miles, on the whole has been very good, but occasionally all the boost pressure goes so the acceleration is minimal, if you put the window down, you cab still hear the turbo whistle, but it doesn't pull, stop the car , turn it off for a few seconds, then fire it back up, and all is well, which leads me to think it might be a sensor of some description, but I get no warning lights on the dash, all the power just disappears. Has any one got any ideas, also I did hear somewhere that you can press a combination of buttons on the climatronic unit and it will tell you the fault code, so if anyone can help with that, It'd be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Identical problems on our identical (albeit 01) Octy. Garage diagnosed a faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor - replaced under guarantee and the problems stopped - for a couple of years. Has occurred twice since, each time (as with the original problem) when accelerating hard up a hill with a full load and an engine not fully warm. Understand the variable pitch turbo gets confused somehow under max load and goes into neutral/safe mode (i.e. still spinning but not pumping). No point in having ours fixed, as we're trading it in next month for an Octy 2....

Thanks for that, I'll give the maf a clean out and see if that works, sems to be a bit of a weak point, mate has a 110 Tdi passat and the maf went on that as well, Oh well I suppose no car is perfect, it does every thing else very well though.
