Mk2 Fabia 1.9 TDI 105 BHP

Featured Replies

Looking for a V Belt kit for our Fabia MK2 1.9 TDI (105bhp) looked online and cannot seem to find the VW part only Gates Skodaparts UK are no longer taking orders so looking where to buy this kit from

Main dealers near me are useless they keep trying to sell me a timing belt kit and when I ask them for the alternator belt they say it's not listed and try a motor factors

Any help would be appreciated thanks

Since the dealership staff are not trying why do you not go to the local motor factor and get one, or they will get it in, that is what they do.

I found you can even put those codes into eBay. I've changed them on my Roomster 1.9, you just put a spanner on the tensioner pulley and rotate a bit clockwise to release the tension. There is a locking bar but I guess not required to just change the belt.

Thanks but no thanks as I have found in the past most motor factors use the cheapest parts they can find which in the long run do not last and if you have to pay someone to do the job it works out much more than buying a genuine part and fitting once, II just thought that someone might have part numbers for the original bits that I could buy online, our main dealers are 20 miles away and must have muppets working in the parts department

I have a different experience probably because there are good Motor Factors that i go to.

They get you what you want and want to pay for, using the distributors and suppliers that are not just punters of rubbish.

Dont use the 'most' that only deal in the cheapest parts.

or if you can buy in the trade just do so.

Thanks I checked on eBay and correct they did have the  belt I also wanted the belt tensioner to go with it to change both at the same time but the seller does not have that part but I have now found a different supplier that will supply belt and tensioner together PS the belt number 03890313AA  has now been superseded by part number 038903137L (with air con) but thanks anyway gave me a start to the end game

Most motor factors usually have different makes of the same part, Cheap, mid range or top quality. If you go in there asking for the cheapest you will get crap but ask them for a decent make and they will be able to supply it

T'other way round; the suffix L part was superseded by the suffix AA on 1st Dec 2006. I'm sure the L will do the job though.

www.oemwolf.com is a handy site for looking up info about supersedings, if that's a word.

See https://oemwolf.com/oem-parts/038903137l.html#replacements for this example.

Thanks again must be a minefield as the company I asked about the belt told me that the new number was the superseded one but it does not matter as they are both 1180mm anyway I also noticed that Gates do a 5 year warranty belt and that one is 1183mm !

Gates version have a 5 year warranty!
