Hi where are you in Yorkshire and where are you planning on getting your Revo remap?

I had a Revo remap on my Mk5 GTI and it was very good, no issues at all.

Revo don't particularly have a big following on this forum and the go to seems to be Shark in Mansfield who have a very good rep.

I have had my pfl 230 remapped recently by Unicorn in Stockport. They are an independent and are pretty much unheard of on here however have a huge following on the VWROC forum.

I can't see you having any issue with Revo but if I was going for one of the big tuners I would consider APR although they are expensive.

Saw a pfl Mk3 rolling roaded at JKD Portsmouth, it ran 302bhp on the toughest rollers in the country, ain't no bar room bull there, they call them the heartbreak rollers.

That had a Revo Stage1 remap & was running Shell V Power

What power and torque did you get on your car assuming a rolling road was available for before and after comparison?

FWIW I've had my previous Leon FR 184 TDI remapped by a local indy specialist and REVO agent; I had no problems in 3 years, no sensor faults, no trouble codes on a scan, no clutch issues, nothing!  The remap completely changed the dull as dishwater, stock engine.  I already had confidence in the indy specialist so I was confident they wouldn't offer a bad service and they would have confidence in the product they were selling.

I believe JJB in York are a REVO agent but I have no experience of them.  IIRC they had a Mk7 Golf GTD decked out in REVO decals etc and were heavily involved in marketing and promotional material but that doesn't necessarily mean they are any good.

If I was to have my 280 remapped then it would be done by REVO but not whilst there's still warranty on it!

Expect to see between 350-360bhp if and when you get the work done. Did the Leon end up with about 220bhp by the way?

Apparently just under 230 with a healthy 500Nm of torque.  I never had it dyno'd but when I spoke to REVO they said they do enough of these cars to know that 230 is the average figure produced.  I've seen forum posts that state the engine and components can't do more than 220 but I've seen rolling road graphs on various VAG forums that show 230 and slightly above is obtainable.  Mid-range it was quick!  Very very quick.   It still returned 55MPG (calculated) though.

I dare say that in a rolling start it wouldn't lose too much ground to my 280 but it was nowhere near as much fun to drive.   The TSI engine is an absolute gem, for now ~280 excited Czech ponies is quite sufficient, thank you. :D

Agree with you on the Tsi engine, so refined, loves to rev, top speed in mine is silly, yet economy is bonkers considering the performance (best of 53.5mpg current tank average 47mpg after 340 miles).

I have got no idea how people get figures like that I get no where near.

Maybe some of the figures people claim are just not real ;)

They are very good figures for a 230. My 245 torque figure went from 290lb/ft (should be 273) to 345lb/ft @2,800 rpm and power from 248.6bhp (should be 241.6) to 302bhp at 5,500 rpm. I noticed your maximum is developed at 6,100 rpm and mine produced 126 bhp at 2,000 rpm which suggests mine pulls a bit harder from low revs and mid range torque is a bit stronger as well. Any hardware mods done to your car such as air filter/box, exhaust or intercooler or just the re-map?

Last 4 tanks for those non believers out there!

440 miles   48.0 litres  10.56 gallons  41.67 MPG.

401 miles   45.61 litres  10.03 gallons  39.98 MPG.

422 miles  46.39 litres  10.20 gallons  41.37 MPG.

373 miles  38.78 litres  8.53 gallons  43.73 MPG.

This gives total 1,636 miles 178.78 litres  39.32 gallons at an average 41.61MPG.

HARD FACTS NO BULL!

But it's a Fn shed load of smiles anyways, fuel is paid for outta the joint account & my wife out earns me 3 to 1

SWMBO gives me £200 per month to fill up both our cars so don't need to drive for economy but helps justify running a quick car!

No hardware mods but did have the DSG remapped at the same time. That's running Sainsbury's Super 97 by the way.

Rick at Unicorn did say he can get the torque curve to peak a bit higher but favours a flat curve for driveability reasons.

Which tuner did yours and do you have a graph?

I have always assumed all things being equal that the pfl 230 and 245 would remap to the same figures as assumed the only difference is their factory maps.

A few bits extra on the 245 I'm afraid, it's called progress

Sorry for the slow response but info was at home!

Do you have one in focus?

Looks like you get a big lump of torque low down the rpm which then settles down. Bet this gives a bigger kick than mine.

Any other mods?

I assume this is on Shell 99 from what I saw on another post?

Sorry about the clarity my phone is very old like me. Yeah correct about V Power and there is loads of torque low down even more than my 63 plate re-mapped Octy diesel. Traction control flickers away at 30mph in 3rd gear in the dry! More mods coming soon, hardware engine stuff then stage 2 re-map
