Hi all, over the last 300 miles my 2010 1.2 HTP gearbox has developed a bearing whine. Not high pitched and not a rumble but a mid range whine. I can't hear it in first or second really, but 3rd, 4th and 5th it's really noisy and getting worse. It's most noisy when the engine is under power or cruising. No real noise on the overrun. The car has covered 73k miles and has been regularly serviced by a proper independent. Has anyone any ideas om which bearing and wild costings to put right?

I've arranged to have the box removed and rebuilt by my local independent who will charge under £1000.00 for this including a new clutch. 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty. I did have a look at trading in for a 64 plate Kia Rio at a cost of £3360 but it makes more sense to hang on the the Fabia for the time being.
