Top speed of Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Forgive me if this has been asked before but what sort of top speed can be achieved in Fabia vRS with and without re-map. 0 to 60 times seem to be a little more documented on reviews but little on top end.

Take Auto Express review of Superchipped Fabia vRS issue 874 (shown on VRStu

6th is not far off 5th in a five speed box, the ratios are just closer in between.

Modified mine went off the clock (150mph) of course not on a public road ;). However this was not verified by GPS or the like.

Hi Mate, it has been covered before but, nevertheless, unmapped, mine showed 130 on the speedo, re mapped, it showed 145+.

I recorded o-60 times of 7.5 unmapped, and 6.7 remapped.

Mine is for sale on ebay as it happens. :D

Mine hasnt changed much post remap, It gets to 130 quicker but struggles to 140. Never had it above 140 on the speedo.

selling it shifty? have you chosen a replacement?

130 sounds about right for top end not sure about 0-60 times never timed it thats from my standard VRS furby not sure about re mapped would like to give one a go tho!!!!.

Yes, a 2006 Octavia vrs 2, parked on my forecourt, in silver of course.

Cheers for speedy replies.

So 130mph is about right for stock car with a little more achievable if re-mapped

Ta

My speedo shows off the clock at 138mph on the talex, the speedo is quite accurate to 90mph then overreads by about 10%

The number of times where topspeed would come into it has been virtually none, and with the remap it just gets to those kinda speeds a lot more readily ;)

The Fabia can cruise around the 3 digit indicated on the clock for hours (yes this was in Germany I thank you ;)) without any trouble at all, very comfy.

The remap makes it possible to push the brick shape through to those speeds whereas as standard it starts to struggle when you get much above 90.

I have had mine to 120 on the speedo, got a bit hairy after that so whimped out!

140ish should be doable remapped, mine slows down over 140 on the GPS. Eventually gets to about 153, but you need a damned long bit of autobahn for that.

i had 134 from mine, that was on the satnav display, so should be pretty accurate.

The car is standard apart from eibach springs.

Hi

There are two gearbox configurations available, the erlier long ratios and later shorter ratio box. The latter box will produce 128mph at 4000rpm, just past what appears to be the point for peak BHP (around 3800rpm) in a remapped car.

My standard car has seen 132 on the GPS unit. Remapped, the car may be able to go a little quicker, but torque will be dropping off quite rapidly. My guesstimate is that the car may go 135-140 at the very most with a remap. The difference will come in the way the car covers the higher speeds. The torque of the standard car is down to around 170lb/ft by 4000rpm, a remapped car can still be producing 240lb/ft at these speeds so acceleration should be 40% better up to vmax.

The older long gear ratio cars will actually be seeing lower rpm and thus higher torque at 130mph. I can see that here, the remap will quite likely give a significant gain in top speed.

With my one click it gets about 7 seconds 0-60 and I have gps verified the thing at 135 which is where I ran out of B4ll5 and runway. I should have timed it to get there as well but i forgot. It wasn't long though and it was a short runway.

Not the most aerodynamic motorcar in the world bu not the worst either

Dont forget there is a limiter on the car as well ( a run on a RR & i found this out ) in 4th gear ( it is around 4200- 4300 r.p.m).

I have found that I could not get past 4200 r.p.m. in 6th ( PRIVATE LAND ). the indicated clock was 135, but found GPS correction to be 130. Have only tried this twice. This was enough to see what the car was capable of. :)

Remapped the limit appears to be higher than that - redline to be exact - although I must admit I only hit that by mistake as I was enjoying some of the view at the time (birds ;)) and forgot to snatch the next gear LOL

(btw this was in a lower gear, not 4th..6th)
