Servicing/Retaining Warranty

Featured Replies

Hi folks

Almost certainly a dumb question here so forgive me - or direct me to another thread if it’s already been asked...

My Citigo is due a service and obviously I’m keen to do so to retain my warranty. I understand I don’t have to get this done through a main dealer, but I’m not clear if I have to get a new particular ‘type’ of service - would an interim suffice I does it have to be a full service? I’d like to keep costs down if possible as it’s an expensive month with a few things on.

Cheers in advance!

How old is your car?,how many miles has it done?.An interim service is every 10000 miles or 1 year and the major service is every 20000 miles or every 2 years.

You can have the service done at an independent garage but genuine Skoda parts must be used if I remember correctly.

?

How many miles has it done and when was it first registered?

The 1st Service at 9,400 miles / 372 which ever soonest is not that much different from the 2nd service at 18,800 miles / 24 months.

2nd service might get a Pollen filter fitted, but this could cost you lots extra even if the Pollen Filter is not replaced.

So is this the 2nd service, or the 3rd where @ 3 years the brake fluid should be changed but not changing it does not void a warranty.

4 years / 40,000 service might get you the spark plugs and the air filter replaced for the higher cost of the major service, not guaranteed though.

Its a 66 plate and has just under 19000 on the clock. It had a service at just under 9000 miles just before I bought it so I’m looking at the second service. So that’s a full one? Damn!

It might be called a 'Major Service',  but no extra parts are being supplied other than a pollen filter, no extra work.

Only extra charge unless you ask why.

Get what needs doing, just another minor service and a look see and report, or go to an Independent.

This is for Fixed Service Intervals over 3 year old cars. Also a rip off.

Just booked our 66 plate monte in for its second year service. 4000 miles and costing £165 at our local Skoda dealer. Last year it cost £145 so a £20 increase. Last time they collected and delivered for free but they won’t do that now either.

A 3rd year service would have cost £100 if we’d have kept the white SE we had before.

I have had my new Monte (66 plate) serviced locally at the Subaru garage. First service after one year (3K miles) cost £120 using Skoda parts. I know the mechanic, so it was a good service following manufacturers schedule (available on-line to accredited garages). He made sure the invoice stated Skoda parts used. Cost was £125 and I didn't need to do a 45 mile round trip to the dealer. I'm confident the warranty is intact.

^^^?

What were those Skoda Parts, a Oil Filter that can be OEM but from any manufacturer and a new Sump Plug,

then fluids, Oil to the correct spec, and washer fluid as you like from any manufacturer?

Skoda parts. Oil filter, sump plug/washer and pollen filter (not strictly required, I realise now) and Mobil 1 oil (that's what they use at that dealership) which meets spec. for VW/Skoda/Seat engine. £40 less than Skoda and no 45 mile round trip, the wife dropped it off on the way to work. I was happy with the price and service received. If an OEM equivalent is sufficient to maintain warranty great, but I have always understood that parts used must be manufacturer approved.

Including brake fluid and pollen filter change? That is reasonable priced for sure.

Probably not, that Citigo will had probably done 10k miles max, wouldn’t change it for that price I’d assume.

I’d guess an extra £45 for brake fluid at least.
