Speedo Needle LED Blown

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having searched it would appear the LED’S blowing with the dash on the dials and needles is something reasonably common.

However I have yet to see a step by step guide from anyone with any parts needed listed.

Does anyone have one hidden away?

Unfortunately I have yet to find any company in Suffolk willing to do it which is frustrating. I don’t fancy being without the car for 3 days and sending my dash pod out to a company via the post for £140 either when I know full well the bulb is probably a £1 to buy!

It is a surface mounted device so unless unless you have experience and equipment for replacement of the device, it is not a diy job.

There was a post on here a couple of years back where the poster replaced all the LEDs to change the colour of the display. If you can find it, it shows the details of the task with photos.

I have exactly the same problem. I looked into doing the job myself (not got round to it yet) and ordered the smd led's.

They are extremely small. I don't think any of my soldering irons (or my fat fingers) are small enough to do a neat job. I will have a look when the cluster is out and I have stripped it down. I am hoping to change the speedo and rev counter needles to blue. There are 2 led's for each needle I think.

I found a small electronics place locally and they will do the job for around £40 they said. Just need to get round to getting the cluster out and stripped down.
