Few problems on 2010 VRS CR170

Featured Replies

Hi lads,

Newbie post!

Picked up a 2010 VRS Cr170 for the woman and it has a few niggly issues.

1. P2015 (surprise, surprise!) intake flap motor/sensor

2. Door open red warning light on dash when all doors are closed

I have orderded the Dieselgeek diy repair bracket from eBay so I'll go about installing that when it arrives.

Any tips would be appreciated about what parts need to be removed (if any) to gain access to the torx screws to remove the motor assembly or if anyone on here attempted this fix, I'd like to hear how you got on. I see there are a few YouTube videos showing the install but they all seem to be on other slightly different VAG engines.

The door open warning light is the next thing to sort. The car doesn't have a MFSW so its hard to know which door is throwing the fault.

I do have VCDS so perhaps that would show up what door is causing the fault.

What are people's thoughts - worn/failed microswitch? Leaky rear wiper washer pipe? Any successful and not too expensive fixes??

I'm only going by Google searches at the moment but I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who could offer some more relevant and specific advice.

Thanks in advance!

Yep leaky wiper on tailgate latch has got to be favourite for the door open.

Grand, I'll have a look at that so!

Is it just a matter of cable-tying up the washer fluid pipe so it seals better?

I believe the washer fluid goes through the middle of the wiper motor and tends to leak from dodgy seals. It may be that a previous owner has ended up replacing the wiper motor but over time the fluid that got into the catch has caused the damage and led to the failure now.

Of course I could  be wrong with the tail gate, do the boot lights stay on when the tail gate is shut?

The tail gate open warning sign isn't lit on the dash, it's the warning light for one of the 4 doors.

I thought the 4 doors and tailgate were on the same warning light? Could also be a broken wire in one of the door jams.

I think all 4 doors and together the boot (and maybe bonnet) shows all condition in the one-light-dash warning light.

Better plug in your VCDS tool to get mute details for everything.

I noticed that the door open red warning light was on the dash so I asked herself to open each door and the boot and close them again to see if the light would go out. I had the ignition on and the engine running. When she opened the boot, another red light lit on the dash showing the boot was opened and it went out again when it was closed. So that's why I was thinking that the door open warning light wasn't related to the boot open warning light.

I can scan again and see if I can find out what is causing the door open light.
