Columbus DAB FM switching - or not

Featured Replies

I have a 2018 MY Superb - the larger screen Columbus. My previous car was an Octavia with Admunsen which switched between DAB and FM without being able to tell, the Columbus genrally fails to do so, sometimes it is great and without me noticingh, but mainly it fails to do so altogether. Anyone else having the same problem and, or, had a resolution?

IIRC there is a setting which needs ticking to do that.

Oops just re-read your message and maybe yours does sometimes - that would mean the box is already ticked.

This might not be entirely relevant but when I did some VCDS coding I had to reset the headunit to allow the 'confirmed' coding to actually work. Might be worth a shot?

Hi John - yes the switch is ticked - I knew about that option from years with my Admunsen and the Columbus does, but not consistently. I haven't got VCDS and its under warranty so looking to se ei fanyone else has had the issue before I take it to a dealer - who'll almost certainly say there's nothing wrong!

My Columbus is just as bad, with the relevant box ticked. It reminds me to stop listening to the radio programme and put some proper music on. It's not a big problem so will wait until the next service to (hopefully) sort it.

Unfortunately the area I live in has limited DAB reception but the quality is so much better I prefer to use it, the Octavia's Admusen coped perfectly, so very disappointed with this Columbus's inability to work properly

mine does the same, it's very hit and miss whether it changes to FM or just goes silent....usually silence!

Has anyone had a resolution to this issue? My Oct 2017 model is just like this, somedays it works perfectly - seems to be if I have waited outside the house where there's no DAB until it clicks over to FM then does so happily until it is switched off. Other times it just refuses to do so.

Hi,

mine was bad also (I live with poor DAB) after much pestering the dealer updated my firmware and it is much better (still not a lot of coverage) but now switches. The only downside was geting use to all the new bits etc as it is different from the old version.

If you post your version I will try to take a look at mine and see if mine is newer.

I have the same issue, just changed my car & the Columbus doesn’t switch from dab to fm,I first found this out when I was going through the Tyne tunnel, last week,I usually listen to radio 2 in the morning so it should switch when it loses the dab signal call me boring if you like) the Octavia I owned had the amundsen & it switched automatically.

Had the car at the dealer today to hard wire dash cam & asked them to sort the issue with the radio out,I just got fobbed off, they said it doesn’t switch from dab to fm automatically, when I pointed out the handbook said it does they said a lot of things in the handbook don’t apply to all models,I replied that the amundsen did in the Octavia.

I also tackled them about the seat belt arming lights coming on after the car starts again after stop start is activated, but got fobbed off again, they said as the handbrake was applied in stop start it was normal for this to occur
