My first Skoda!

Featured Replies

Hi my name's Chris and I'm a manual gearbox reconditioner from Staffordshire. I've just purchased an Octavia VRS 2.0t FSI DSG. My first ever DSG and I must say I'm very impressed. I was expecting a semi auto to be abit more clunky, but it's great! I'll try to weigh in on a few gearbox questions when I find the time.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Chris - rather you than me working on gearboxes, most of us dread gearbox faults LOL

I've done it for 13 years. It's all I know haha

Hi Chris and welcome.   DSG is great and you'll find it hard to go manual after that.  It can be a little jumpy at slow speeds at times but you get used to it and its not overly noticeable.  A tip I would give you is to use sport mode sometimes.  This holds on to the gears for longer so will help get the power down at junctions and stop it jumping from first to second in slow moving traffic.  Enjoy it!
