What like.

How are people getting on with 1.4tsi FL Octavias. Thinking of having a look at a beautiful Elegance but only ever had diesels apart from our 1.2tsi Fabia. All opinions and faults gratefully accepted.

This one only has 32k on it.

Cheers,

Derek.

I've got a 62 plate 1.4 Elegance estate with DSG and love it. Just come back from 2 weeks in Cornwall car fully loaded averaging around 45 to a gallon. Loads of room enough gadgets although would have liked maxidot. Just over 41,000 on the clock And ticks over so quiet it's like the engine is off.

Just like to add I got it in March, not many petrol autos on Auto trader!

Is this the 122bhp or did VAG fit something else in Skoda's?

61 plate SE Plus hatch here (manual). Done about 18K at average 43mpg. Only a couple of long runs but haven't found economy improved at all when I did. Spec in this trim is a bit Spartan, but it was quite a decent buy from many I looked at and the horror stories of many of the other engines put me off. Comfy enough. A decent amount of power but another 25bhp would be nice - it doesn't really feel gutless and is quite driveable. I've had 2 litre diesels for years beforehand and found the transition easy.

Yeah it's the 122bhp with DSG which I have in my current FL 1.9 diesel so quite happy to buy another auto.

140K on the clock still so lovely and noiseless.

Traveling for 4,5,6 hours and feel not tired enough.

Seats are very comfy and have good body support.

I find The overall feeling is great for travelling and this car's setup is done well enough for this.

Bought it new 2009.

No any problem at all except the wastgate actuator fixed at 80K around.

Fitted an upgraded Borg Warner set with slightly wider in/out ports which provides an additional 5-7hp and relevant torque from the stock KKK.

The broken sent over to turbo specialists Turbodronics (Greece) and well repaired the actuator for a 150€ - tested ok  and have it as a spare in the box.

Running REVO map stage 1 for 3 years now and is excellent working like factory.

Great car I can say.

Just be careful that dsg box is fine as it will be a 7 speed dry box where as your currently 1.9 will have the 6 speed wet box which is more reliable and less likely to have issues.

Have you considered the Octavia vRS? There's plenty of DSG ones on the market right now and they are a lot of fun.

Every so often VAG come out with a cracking engine.

The last, now dead, was the 1.9 TDI 105PS.

The more recent is the 1.4 TSI, an absolute gem of an engine.

Ok-right, but there are various opinions and experiences from different owners (not especially in this forum..) as regarding on this engines.

What can say - I know this 1.4TSI was on the top of the category and got prized for 6 sequential years (2008-2013) from valid-serious auto-magzns.

But others do not say the same.
