Anyone replaced an entire door?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Anyone out there ever replaced an entire front door on their Octavia?

After a lovely person writing off my drivers side door at the end of last year (and with it my whole car!!!) I have finally sourced a replacement but its just a shell with spare glass, so I need to remove the old battered door but then refit all of the elements from it onto the new door.

I've seen-a few workshop guides for most of the items and some Youtube videos for other elements (such as glass which looks wonderfully tricky!), but what I really want to know is if there are any clips and fittings that are likely to break when I remove the old door card etc. that will ned to have replacements on hand for?

If anyone has done this before would love to hear from you, local bodyshop wanted £200 to do the work so i am going to attempt this one myself.

Cheers

Here are the clips:

I've bought several of these whilst I replaced the rear speakers in my octavia. The door cards are not that tricky once you have found all the torx screws and pull in the right places.

They will break for sure so get a few spare.  They can be a swine to pull out of the door holes.

I've never replaced an entire door though.   Best of luck!

You might want to buy the plastic liner sheet (membrane) beforehand.

It is possible in an ideal world to remove the old one and restick it using fresh tape but Murphy usually intervenes...

Cheers. I've popped an order in for a couple of bags, just in case, I thought it would be the case that some would break. I think that some already are after the accident accessors took most of the door apart as well.

Cheers. Hadn't thought of that....do you happen to know where they can be purchased? A brief google search hasn't turned up anything....I'll have a bit more of a dig when I get home but if it's a Skoda direct only job then I need to do that now so I have everything in time for the weekend.

I've been looking for info for the last hour or so and have come up dry!

I know there were membranes on the mk1 Octavia but I'm now wondering if they exist on the mk2?

I'd suggest a phone call to your local friendly Skoda dealer and ask them. Then you can let the rest of us know :)

Regards Mike

fixed mk2 reference should have been mk1
