Hi,

For a while I have had an intermittent lighting fault on one of my rear number plate lights. Every time I start the car it's a 50/50 chance the bulb will not light up and indicated on the dashboard screen as a fault, the other time it works fine.

 

I have swapped the bulb but this does not make a difference.

 

I have cleaned the contacts of the fitting but they are in VGC but this does not make a difference.

 

I am at a loss to what the issue may be but loathed to take it to the main dealer and fork out a few hundred pounds, at least till I have tried myself to fix.

 

Could it be a fault on the Canbus?

Is there sufficient tension on the bulb holder contacts?

I might be where the boot door wiring loom exits the door and joins the body?
