Skoda Octavia Mk2 1.9 TDI PD 2008 Won´t start

Featured Replies

Hello, I need help with my skoda Octavia Mk2, after I turn the key, nothing happens, no lights turns on, only the one which shows the lights are on. It started all of a sudden, car running but when we stopped at gas station car wouldn´t start. After few trials turned on and everything was ok until it died again few kilometer later. We waited few moments and the car started again. But now everything is the same, the only problem is the car won´t start anymore and nothing helps and we are in croatia 1200km far from home. Thanks for any suggestions.

Does it start when you're using starter cables? I've had similar issues and that turned out to be the battery. Batteries don't like heat, and will eventually die. Mine did while I was in Poland.

But all times it did start instantly when I had someone providing me with power.

I would check your alternator also, unless you're battery is really dead your engine should remain running once it has started, since the alternator should provide power. Did you have any engine light coming up?

I went to a DIY hardware store which also sold batteries and replaced mine, since that no problems anymore. (Old one was 5 years so not that bad, only too bad it was during my holiday trip)

Nope, won´t start with cables nor force start (down the road), also alternator and starter are ok so problem must be somewhere else. The thing is that car used to stop suddenly while running, after turning the key nothing would happen, no lights no anything but after few moments and trials lights came back on and car started without problem so i am really confused what it could be... Also battery and voltage are ok.

I would suspect a failing ignition switch. Not unknown. Could also be the Aux supply relay which comes on with the ignition.

That´s probably it, just called the mechanic and he said exactly the same as you did. Thanks
