I think it was a memorable looking car with an excellent name which emphasised its character and still does. We all know what a Yeti is in mythology and now as a vehicle..

What on earth is a Karoq and why should I care?

I too was a very early Yeti adopter - a Muscovado 2009 1.2 TSi SE (with park assist). I've now had three of them and still think it's an excellent car. Probably the best out of >100 I've owned over the years.

I've now decided to run my current Yeti after warranty expiry and have eschewed main-dealer servicing. I looked at a few alternatives, but nothing has quite the same character as a Yeti. I recall telling another member on here (now a Yeti owner) that it is a "happy car". I will be sad to see mine finally go, but given the residuals are now very poor I plan to see it out to the bitter end!

i have the 1.0 TSi engine in my Rapid clone (Toledo) and find it both more powerful and economical than the 1.2 TSi, but a little lacking in torque at low revs. I suspect the DSG in your new car will mask this though. It cruises well and I'm seeing mid 40's from my manual 1.0 110 BHP car.

Your fuel returns from the DSG 1.2 TSi are epic. One of the main reasons I parted with my (manual) 1.2 was poor fuel economy, I generally got low 30's and never more than low 40's. My first Yeti replaced a manual 1.6 Petrol Qashqai and I still remember what a revelation it was driving the Yeti, after 2 years in a first generation (normally aspirated) Qashqai, despite relatively similar engine outputs.

Best of luck with the Karoq:thumbup:

You will You will always be welcome in the Yeti section ;)

Interesting comments regarding the new 1.0 ltr engine. I recently had a 1.0ltr Rapid "on loan" when my Yeti was in for some warranty work. I was well impressed with this engine. as it seemed to have more than enough performance while indicating over 60mpg!

I really liked the Rapid but would prefer something with a higher spec interior when I replace my current car (Yeti). I will certainly be looking at something with this engine, and was wondering if the fuel consumption takes a nose dive when this engine is used in the heavier Karoq?

My current Yeti is a 1.4 tsi 4*4 and so far my overall mpg (actual) has averaged 44mpg.

The Rapid seems to be forgotten as between the size of the popular Fabia, and the often bought as a company or family car Octavia.

I did consider one of these for my wife to use but the Fabia estate  was a more useable and versatile car, and had we gone ahead I would have bought one of those.

I don't think the Rapid has sold that well in the UK?
