Help removing sun visor

Featured Replies

Hi, can you help me ?

Need to change sunvisor due to mirror cracked. Have removed trim clips from existing unit but can't figure out how to remove actual visit. Looks like it should just pull out but that seems not to be the case. I have new complete visit to fit.

May have misunderstood what you want but ....

This is what the manual says. I don't know what the flat release pliers look like - I'd presume they are door trim release pliers ( like https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/BGS-technic-3192/2254376629? iid=362411600586&chn=ps ) and the text is saying "lever out the clips with the inner jaws as close as possible to the clips and the outer jaws against the body work."

– Unhook sun visor -2- from centre retainers -1-.
– Swivel out cover caps -3- on sun visor retainer.
Note
In the following steps, make sure that the flat release pliers with
longer jaws are inserted in the centre of the clip.
– Use the flat release pliers with longer jaws to unlock the front
clip -3- on the sun visor retainer -1- from the support in the
body.
– Keep the sun visor taut to avoid the clip locking again unintentionally.
– Use the release pliers to unlock the rear clip -3- on the sun
visor retainer -1- from the support in the body.
– Carefully take the sun visor -2- with the sun visor retainer -3-
downwards out of the support in the body and remove the
transport retainer.

Thanks for the info, you understood correctly.

I can imagine that having the pliers as described would make the job a lot easier.

As I had a complete new visor assembly, in the end I finished up having to break the old clip assembly and removing the clips from the roof. Once the plastic holding the fixing spring clips in place had been removed the clips were easily removed.

Refiting the new visor took all of 5 seconds and that included connecting the flying lead for light and ensuring the foam sleeve coverd the connector to prevent rattles !
