Boost issues

Featured Replies

Hello all

Your probably going to all bitch and moan as you usually do saying go look at other feeds bit I've come to the point where I'm stuck!

I have a skoda octavia vrs mk1 2001 with a fmi, cold air intake, forge 007 and a turbo back stainless Steel exhaust with a 3" down pipe with decathlon it also had a stage 1 map by "more bhp" I've had lads of boost problems where it boosts to 22.5psi but the drops down to 5psi you then have to drop gears and rag the **** out of it at 5psi to get the boost back! Then it will drop again and you have to start over, I tried everything! And I mean everything I changed the n75the dv the maf sensor the actuator took all the pipes off to check for boost leeks had it smoke tested took the throttle body off and cleaned it I came to the conclusion that it was the Map so I took it to a local mapper who took the stage 1 map off and put a standerd one on to see if it solved the problem! It didn't!!! So he ****ed about and ended up putting a stage 2 map on. It's better but it like hunts for the boost now from 10psi to 20psi when you gun it like as if your blipping the throttle? Any help would be appreciated, the only thing I have yet to do is change the turbo. Its also best to mention that at no point has there been any engine codes. Cheers Sam

One thing I haven't checked but would it not throw up a fault if there was an issue with the pressure?

Nope, fuel pressure isnt monitored.

Unless ultimately you may get a fuel trim fault. But its a very common issue and a good starting point if nothing else is prevalent.

Okay great something to go off at least, I'll get a pressure tester this afternoon and have a look, what would it read?

What pressure regulator are you running?

It’s worth taking it to nick at r tech who is a 1.8t guru.

might the spring in the DV be knackered?

Just the standard regulator, and the dv is brand new john

3bar then.

Okay I'll have a look later Would it be worth uprating it?

If your map doesnt require it then no.

But is it greased and with the correct colour spring inside?

Yes it comes greased from the factory and I took the green out and put the yellow spring in as I'm running between 220 and 230 bhp

So after a lot of ****ing about I brought a ko3s hybrid turbo, 4bar fule pump and s3 injectors off a bloke that had it all on a a3, came to fit it today but there is a ko4 001 on it!!! So the turbo won't fit the down pipe! Also there is already a 4 bar fule pump in it so got it pressure tested and it's running just under 4 bar? Could this be the problem with the boost loss? As the mappers thought it was a 3 bar and a ko3s turbo?
