Auto Lights - Too sensative

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Kodiaq has auto lights and wipers. I like the fact u can adjust the sebsativity of the auto wipers.

My question is, can you do anything about the sensativity of the lights? I only ask as my 20 mile drive to work is on a tree covered A road and the lights must go on and off at least 10-15 times during the journey. No greatly annoying for me but must annoy the people in front of me. Not to mention it can't be doing the lights any good.

Thanks

In the infotainment unit, under Car > Settings > Lights, you can change a setting that supposedly does what you want... to some small extent. It can be set to normal (by default), or 'early' (turn the lights on sooner, i.e. when it's only a bit darker), or 'later' (i.e. when it's a lot darker).

In my experience, however, it's still very arbitrary. The only way to really stop it happening is to turn the lights to off, or drive round with your sidelights on. Or just ignore it because it's the same with pretty much every new car these days.

Maybe even when they are less sensitive Switch the 'Auto' off and put on the Dipped Beam and head lights all the time and save others from the DRL's and no rear tail lights,

or manually switch on the Dipped Beam and Sidelights as visibility requires.

Too many safety features on cars and yet cars that are new and nearly new in rain and fog with just front DRL's on.

Ah thanks for the replies. I'll have a look at the settings again. I thought that early medium late was to do with the auto main beam. I'll give that a try and see how it goes.

Thanks

Hmm, that setting for me only control the automatic high beam activation and deactivation and has nothing to do with the normal main beam ...

Just my five cents ...

Have a nice evening.

I haven’t got high beam assist but I do have the early, normal, late menu option and it changes how soon or late the headlights switch on when selected to auto on mine. When I checked mine after collection it was selected to early.

Well I've selected late so I'll see if it makes a difference on my way home later. Can't say I noticed a difference with the auto main beam this morning.

It doesn't affect the 'auto main beam', only the dipped headlights in Auto mode.

Auto lights? Auto wipers? Auto parking?

I’ve never found them to work satisfactorily with regard to timing, so always leave them switched off or have to override them.

Which I think is where the OP came in.

I agree that auto parking is pretty useless but the auto lights and wipers worked faultlessly on my previous Yeti and similarly are selected to auto on my Kodiaq with no dramas.
