Jabba Remap and Insurance

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps

Not been for ages, working hard and playing harder, but I have now finished paying for the old vRS and was thinking of going down the Jabba route, so do we still get a discount if we mention Briskoda and if I do go down the bad boy route who will touch me with the infamous insurance barge pole. I currently pay around £350.00 for a standard Vrs Octavia so any ideas what I could expect with a custom remap.

I know it's all been asked before but I am sure the website was a lot easier to navigate than it is now.

Thanking you in advance

My Insurance went up by £70 for a jabba remap.

Thanks Goochie Who was the insurance company?

Blubs

Admiral - their web quote system lets you add mods etc. so that would be a good place to get an idea of cost.

Direct Line wanted about £150 more for the remap.

Confused.com also gives you a feel for which companies may want to insure you - some of the quotes will be pretty unbelievable too

Chris

Yes...we still get a discount....5% if you're a member but 10% via a group buy...there's one running at the moment but you need to sign up quick.

Check out GB section.

alot of the insurance companies grade remaps etc by the BHP increase you get in %

I can't believe it I just went on line to get a quote from Admiral and they quoted me £320.00 for my standard car but when I changed the quote to include a 11-25% Chip the quote came back at a totally unreasonable £550.00

Strange, my % increase was larger than yours (150-220) yet my premium increase was less. Perhaps it is because I have an old farts Elegance estate rather than a VRS ?

Just been on Confused.com and guess what! the only company that will touch me is Admiral!!! AGHHH I don't want to be standard anymore!! I am 38 never had an accident, never had a claim, never had any points. Think I will call in the morning and speak to a human.

Try Adrian Flux, Chris Knott and maybe Elephant.

I got a quote from Elephant a little while ago to see what a vRS would cost me a year (I'm 22 with 2 yrs ncb in July) and it was

I've also just been making the same enquiries. Cos I wanted to get on the current jabba group buy.

My insurance company won't touch me with a mod and the best quote i could get from any other companies was £900. That's £300 more than i'm paying for my standard vRS.

Although Chris Knott were VERY helpful (actually got to talk to an English speaking person!).

They said call them last and they will beat any quote by 10%. Mention Briskoda to em also!

I am insured with Adrian Flux. They always advertise in the back of such things as Max Power and pride themselves on dealing with Modded cars. Although my vRS has not got anything done to it (yet), I do get dirt cheap insurance from them. The number for their modified division 08700 777888. Give them a try and let the rest of us know?

1100 quid for me - that's with everything declared in my sig (apart from the talex and LT450). That's Fabia vRS with remap, 32 yrs, protected NCB, Europe-wide cover all-year-round (so no stupid 90 day restrictions) for business use at about 30k annual.

Before remap, LSD, diff it was 850 but that company wouldn't touch remaps.

Either way - insurance is a lottery, keep shopping around via net & calling direct, and negotiate them down. First quote I got was 1600 quid for the same thing so I told them to try again.... Good luck though

Have you tried Chris knott??

I have a generic remap on mine but they where about the best i could find for me. 35 yr old full ncb. Mine went up by about a tenner a month.
