High idle speed

Featured Replies

Skoda Rapid 1.6 diesel.  Reaches operating temp (90c) in about 5 minutes (2 miles) . Initially stop start works then it stops working. Car sits at 1000 rpm instead of 750. When it idles fats the stop start does not work. I switch off then on and the car idles at 750...next time I stop same thing, 1000 rpm  switch off start again , repeat.  Engine sounds fine, fuel consumption good. NO AC operating. I am a bit concerned that the operating temperature comes up as quick as it does.

What age is it, what miles has it done and what does the mechanic that does the servicing say about how it behaves?

?

Does it maybe need a new battery?

Is that 3 different Skoda you have as taxi's that all have issues, high fuel consumption and the likes

Regen is taking place, do not switch off the engine, allow it to to finish, can take 20 minutes or more. Best to drive it around until finished. Stop/start is disabled during regen, high temperature because of regen, if you stop the engine, regen is aborted and eill start again from scratch shortly after next start.

2013, 41,000 miles I have not had the mechanic look at it since it has to now go to a Skoda dealer., I don't think it needs a battery....this is a different issue from my other Skodas.

Now, that sounds like an answer. I honestly never thought that car had a DPF.  But it started doing this over a 100 mile journey, and done the same the next day over the exact same journey....so may not be regen. Thanks

So has this car had the Emission Fix, new engine management and the Flow device fitted, or have you had it before the Dealership had The Fix for the 1.6 TDI CR and you know your car has not been done.

Still showing on the VIN checker as outstanding.
