LED DRL installation

Featured Replies

Newbie and owner of a brand new Rapid Spaceback 2017 here.

I bought Rapid Spaceback built on november 2017 which was used as a test car for the dealer and it didn't come with LED DRLs.

So I'm asking you if you have any experience installing LED DRLs on this car and if you can let me know how you did it and which LEDs you've installed.

I have looked at some universal LEDs from Philips and Osram, but I don't have any idea where to mount them.

Mind though I'm not an electrician, so additional help there as well.

Thanks for the help!

Haven't tried installing LED DRL (H15) as I did not find any decent brands out there. The osram and philips are still Halogen (i think?). But from the youtube videos I've seen, its pretty straight forward, just a plug-in plug-out kinda thing. :)

Thanks Raprap13 for the info. I'm looking for as minimal intrusion to the front spoiler as possible, so Osram and Philips are my last resorts. Whish I could buy factory headlight with LEDs and all would be fine. Beacuse I can't find any I like the idea of LED DRL's integrated in the fog lights. Though as you've said, I don't feel like buying them from ebay or aliexpress and there are no decent brands available.

Hey jurij, Super Skoda has fog lights with integrated LEDs. This is my first pit, so hopefully link below works.

Hi JiMsHaDy69 , I know about these, but seeing them in on a car seem kinda funny and almost invisible.

So on cloudy, but brighter day they don't emitt enough light and seem almost invisible. At least that is what I saw facing head on.

So I prefer these (they are big enough to be seen), but I'm hesitant to buy them from China https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Car-Flashing-For-Skoda-Rapid-2013-2014-2015-Car-DRL-12V-LED-Daytime-Running-light-with/32820096519.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.2.2d227e98mljVSU&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_5_10065_10068_319_5735015_317_5734915_10696_10084_453_10924_454_10083_10618_10920_10921_10304_10307_10922_10820_10301_10821_537_536_10059_10884_10887_100031_5735215_321_322_10103_5735115,searchweb201603_51,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=87095a45-056b-4261-9a0e-4face934f954-0&algo_pvid=87095a45-056b-4261-9a0e-4face934f954.

If only EU alternative would exist, so that quality wouldn't be questionable and pass EU regulations, without any additional cost (homolagtion).

Thanks for the tip though.

In Cloudy but bright days and pedestrians and cyclists will see you unless your car has a cloak of invisibility,

and if you think not just put on the Side / Position Lights and headlights and no 'drivers' will mind,

better than stupid bright 'Daytime / Daylight driving lights' on Cloudy but bright days, or rain / drizzle etc and no rear lights on.

You've missed my point. I was not saying that the car was invisible or you wouldn't notice the car itself, but these DRL lights from Super Skoda turned on didn't glow as suposed to (too smal to be noticed) opposed to what I saw in other cars with factory DRLs meaning you buy something it doesn't function as it suposed to...

Invisible to whom?   The only Blind People i know driving cars are Blind Installers.
