Ford to refund 'Engine fail EcoBoost customers'.

Featured Replies

That's an Eco Boost for affected owners.

Will The Blue Oval truly stump the cash up to all affected owners. Is there a Lack of full car / owner traceability under recall conditions?

The Ford UK boss i heard on the BBC was IMO trying to muddy the waters.  I think as the day goes on and before tonight programme is aired Ford UK will

become a bit clearer, not try to have any blame on owners, non Main Dealership Servicing or hide behind the DVLA/ DVSA.

Ford Fiesta & Focus are top selling cars in the UK, and they shift a fair few Kuga, C-Max & Transit Connect as well.

Going to be costly.

Seem to recall the 1.0turbo Ford engine won lots of awards from various magazines, unfortunately none were for reliability as plenty of disgruntled owners have found out to their cost and Ford kept harping on that there was no fundamental problem with this engine. Wouldn't touch any Ford or recommend it to a friend with this time bomb of an engine.

The boss of Ford UK was on BBC Breakfast this morning explaining the problem. More on the subject tonight on BBC 7.30pm Inside Out. I am sure if Watchdog was aired it would feature this like it did for the Vauxhall Zafira

Is that the one for most unreliable but best for the enviroment?:D

Reading the article, its seems Ford have finally moved before they were pushed by DVSA. The article suggests all Ford usually do is offer sticking plaster solutions. I reserve judgement until I see Fords generosity which for many will be too little and far too late.

Still watching the Golf nothing more satisfying than a quiet American (except lots of QUIET AMERICANS). Can you imagine Donald Trump losing the ability to speak. UN Security Council meetings would be very boring-bit like watching Golf hey XMAN.

This problem has been around for more than 2years but Ford Europe have been playing EMU on the beach. Same with Fiesta door seals failing after 12 months then dealers expecting customers to pay for the revised better ones that don't leave a big puddle in the front footwells.:o

the 1.4 TSI's won Under 1,400 cc Manufactures Engine of the year for 9 years.

Had it in my 2016 Superb and is indeed worthy of all those accolades.:)

^^^ That was a Euro 6 and not the Twinchargers that had them win the 1.4 TSI International Engines of the Year.

Either way both great engines.

They were, the ones that were not faulty were fantastic, some were lucky and the replacement engine was really good.

VW Group never got around to admitting the ones that were failures, but that time might be coming soon.

Time will tell how the VW 1.0TSI's get on.

That's why I didn't trade in my MK1 Fabia VRS for the Super/Turbo charged MK2 because was worried about oil consumption and reliability issues that were circulating.

VW knew that when they were Euro 4 then introduced them as Euro 5 and increased the power, then discontinued them 2012 and revised them and still could not get them right.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

But Volvo / Geely go with the Twin / Dual Chargers and get it right and do the Hybrids as well.

Ford were like VW with the downsizing and all the great intentions and they forgot they had not the knowledge that there was with the Far East Engine Builder even though they tried buying that.

Ford had ruined Volvo for a few years and VW bought into Suzuki to get the R&D on small capacity turbos and superchargers and still co-cked it up.

Caterham used the Suzuki engine for the 160, not the Ford Ecoboost.

The first Zetec engines in the early 1990's were designed for Ford by Yamaha - but they didn't want anyone to know that...

Agree about the 400bhp Volvo twin engine, SIMPLY CLEVER, co2 ridiculous a well. Ford tried to ruin Volvo, Jaguar and Aston Martin and look at those 3 now under good leadership with proper investment. Also GM killed SAAB and sold Vauxhall to the French and still advertise the brand as British since 1903 or similar rubbish.:inlove:

The Yamaha desig:oned 1750cc engine in the racy Puma was particularly good.

Seems only way to overtake in F1 this year is to get on the radio and get your team mate to pull over and let you pass. Even Lewis looked embarassed after his VICTORY?:notme:
