Passenger's seat stuck for Good!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys!!! I have a 2014 MKII Fabia 1.6 . Before today a "Deep Cleaning Team" cleaned the interior of my car as I purchased it used and the interior wasn't in the best condition. An hour after they finished their job I realised that the passenger's seat was all the way back and when I tried to slide it in the front it wasn't moving! The latch seems to work properly after I examined it with the light. Till now I can't find a solution and it's frustrating. I love this car and I want to have it in the best condition. I would really appreciate any help, suggestion etc

Thank You In Advance

Check a random object such as a coin hasn't wedged itself in one of the slides. Examine both sides inner and outer and in front. If you are happy that something physical isn't stopping it, then with the release lever lifted, give the seat a really good sharp tug forward.

@xman I examined everything. I also gave many "good pushes" with the lever lifted, but without any luck. I can't even remove the seat because the rear screws are hided from the seat it self as it is in the far back position... I really don't know what to do...

First, are you sure you are doing it right? eg Can you slide the drivers seat ok?

Is the release lever under the seat at the front moving the same as the drivers side?

There will be something, a coin, stone, toy wedged somewhere. Usual place is between the centre console and right hand slider, look from above with a torch. Check other side near the B pillar.

Have you tried whilst sitting in it to put weight on it?

If you have a good look under the drivers seat in the rear footwell while someone operates and slides the seat you can see how it works and moves.

Then look under the passengers seat from the rear footwell and compare.

Someone could push from back seat while you're pulling at the front.

Couldn't advise you lever with a screwdriver or other brute force methods, as you'd have to work out yourself what you could do without damaging something.

Two options you can consider if all fails

Call the Deep clean team and tell them to sort out what they broke.

Go to a friendly mechanic, or a Skoda dealer and ask them to look.

There is a spring and catch at the back you should be able to get to un-catch with a little force and a flat blade screwdriver.

There were cars that got new seat bases as they were going like yours has before the 1st MOT at 3 years.

Where people had the seats fully back all the time and never moved them and come MOT time it was discovered.  Got the T-Shirt.

@Offski Thank you very much! I'll try today and I will let you know. I'm not so sure if I understood where is that spring but I'll give it a try!B)

...Also, try jacking the seat hight up and down to see if that helps, along with forward/rear motion of the lumbar support. A little WD 40 type application on the runners and mechanism might also help.

...Any news?

@mrgf no news till now. Your idea didn't work:crying: I want to try what Offski advised before but I can't find that spring that he says

If you mean the spring that works with the lever,  this one works fine. I can see it moving and bringing the catch up. If there is another one.... Please advice

Have you still not fixed it or taken the seat apart?

Till now I haven't manage to fix it. I can't remove the seat because straight back so I don't have any access to the rear screws. I'm trying to find a solution with this spring that you mentioned before. I can't understand which one you mean.

Update:

Finally I got time to go under my passenger's side seat. I started unscrewing any bolt that I could access. I started first with the rear ones that keep the seat on the rail. I started removing after the front ones and...... tadaaaaa....!!!! the seat was unblocked finally!!!! There wasn't any object obstructing the rail.... it was the seat it self just stuck there.... Thx God now everything is back to normal. I lubricated the rails also, so no worries anymore. Thx for all the help guys!!!!!
