Electric mirror switch MK1 Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi, the knob on the mirror switch has snapped off meaning I cannot adjust the mirrors (luckily they’re set up more or less as I like them). Tried to repair with superglue but that lasted all of 5 minutes so it looks like a replacement is needed. My car doesn’t have heated mirrors and I can’t seem to find a non heated switch, does anyone know if I can use one of those or are the connections different?

As far as I’m aware all electric mirror switches for the Mk1 2000-2004 (Mk1) have heated mirrors. It should be R at the top L at the bottom and the heating part in the middle. Mk4 Golf has the same switch but illuminated red instead of green.

Thanks, I wasn’t sure as the broken switch does not have the heating symbol on my it. I’ll jump onto eBay and see what I can find.

@Rosski22 - The "Heater position" on the normal switch disables the adjusters. If your car actually doesn't have heaters rather than having burnt out heaters, I don't see that you'd loose anything by having a redundant symbol on the joystick head.

That makes sense, I’ll buy a replacement switch and try it.

Yep, that looks just like the one on my car, not sure why it cost twice as much as the other switch...

Bit late to the party now, but might be of use to someone else in future (can't find old thread on it). I had same issue but had a non UK standard part in mine as it was a parallel import when new from ROI so had the EU style one (heated top, middle L+R and L bottom) found it impossible to find a replacement due to being RHD very rare, so bought a normal one and stripped both down and used the clear stalk bit. Easy done, bloody tight though.
