How far should boot lid open up

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a 2014 mk 2 superb facelift 2litre dsg and was wondering how far the boot lid should lift when opened remotely with the key it is a manual system but only pops open and does not open up fully is this the norm or is there some way of adjusting it to open fully

As always many thanks in advance for all the advice given

My 2014 twin door has only ever "popped" open since I got it at 14 months old / 14k miles

My 8 year old, 150,000 mile Twindoor (saloon / hatchback) will happily open all the way using the keyfob.

Unless it is very cold (oil pressure in the struts?), or there is excess beaded water / light dusting of snow on the surface.

In the summer it is strong enough to crack you one on the chin if you're stood too close :D

I think it all depends on how often you use the boot. Springs don't last forever. Through the week I store my laptop bag, lunch, jacket etc. on the back seat so the boot is only opened once or twice a week.

I imagine if you use the car as a taxi and the boot is opened 20-30 times a day then you're going to notice issues much earlier in the cars life.
