Skoda Service Plan

Featured Replies

Is this worth having, got a “Offer”through the post to pay 279.00 GBP for 2 services, is this good value, I have a Superb 3 estate 2.0 diesel offer available until mileage 10K or 1 year and getting close to hitting mileage - any advise welcome

Is it your car or leased and getting handed back @ 3 years?

What happens, is your car on Variable Servicing now and going to get the first service at 18,500 miles / 24 months,

then another at another 18,500 miles and 24 months.

Or do you have to have a Fixed Service soon and another in 9,400 miles / 372 days.    Minor Service now, and Major @ 2 years.

Are they going to change the Brake Fluid at 3 years old. Or is that going to be another Minor Service @ 3 years old.

Hi, thanks for the reply, its my own car so no lease or PPI, pretty sure its on Variable so would expec the. To include the 18K + 36K (or equiv when car thinks it needs it LOL). Has anyone had any experience of Skoda trying to wriggle out of this - this is my first Skoda and really like it

Is it at any Skoda Dealership or just the one making the offer.

18,000 miles Oil & Filter and look see, maybe a Pollen Filter, maybe not. Free Wash and Vacuum.

36,000 miles Oil & Filter and look see and report and maybe a Air Filter maybe not, Free wash & Vacuum.

probably not the Brake Fluid change, that will be extra.

or,

@ 10,000 miles, Oil & Filter and look see & report,   free wash & vacuum.

@ 20,000 miles, Oil & Filter and look see & maybe a Pollen Filter, free wash & vacuum.

This is the 3-10 years set up.  Money for old rope, no guarantee of parts replaced.

From the dealership but states can be used at any Skoda Dealer, my gut feeling is it will probably work out cheaper as cannot think I will get a service from a dealer for under 150.00GBP, does that sound logical?

If 2 Major services then great, 18,000 miles 2 years and 36,000 miles 4 years.   Pollen & Air Filter changed. Brake Fluid as well. Real Bargain.

If a Minor and Major Service then great if they are at 18,000 miles and 36,000 miles.

if a £99 Oil & Filter Service at 1 year and a £180 bit more done as in the same and a Pollen Filter then you decide.

I have a 1.4tsi and purchased this so called plan when new, by my own (in hindsight stupid) request, not even mentioned by the salesman. So disappointed when Skoda finance sent me a letter a few weeks later stating it was just for one oil service plus one minor service. I was expecting a minor and a major.

Members have reported a mix, some got my deal, others got minor plus major, I suspect those were PCP buyers. I bought mine outright.

Having read members getting an oil service for £99 and standard price for a minor is £179, its no deal at all.

Dealer changed my car to fixed at PDI but I spotted that straightaway at delivery and told them to change it back to variable.

Now I need to argue when I, not Skoda, want the "not so great deal" oil and minor services doing. As an ultra low miler (currently 2 or 3k per year), car rarely used, no short journeys, and car garaged, I'm happy to let the car go the full 2 years as on board computer tells me.

Not sure if Skoda finance or deal will quibble that deal was for fixed regime though, but prepared to stand my ground.

Car is going to be a keeper, replacing a much loved Alhambra that I ran for 20 years.

Dealer trust level is low, just complying with warranty/goodwill requirements

I'm quite happy servicing my own cars (4 skodas) with good quality 502 oil (genuine GM dexos 2) and Mann filter for around £20 a time. Actually less but that's maybe a story for another thread, when 1.2tsi's hit 150k+

As Offski says, find out whats actually being offered in detail, then decide.

When I bought my 2016 Superb new I asked how much the first 2 services cost separately and they totalled £400 so probably cheaper to go for the £279 2 service offer.:o

The £279 plan for 2 services is only for cars on fixed servicing. You get one at the end of year one or 10,000 miles and the 2nd after 2 years or 20,000 miles (whichever comes first).

When I bought the Superb buying the services as needed was over £350 thus it represented a good saving. Had the first service earlier this year, the second will be done in February next year. Both will be by date since we don't do 10,000 miles a year.

Wife had a new Fabia in May this year. Early next year I will take out the same plan on that car since it will save money again.

One bit of advice, you can only buy the plan from sales. If you go to service they will sell you a more costly dealer plan which has the potential to be totally worthless if the dealer ceases trading.

At point of purchase this was not mentioned and no t&c given. I’ve double checked my agreement letter and again no mention of fixed interval. Only of fixed-price service plan. And what it includes. So I will go with my car's on board computer service recommendation or earlier if I feel its needed.

The wording of my letter is identical to this one, except I get 1 x oil service plus 1 x minor service. No service schedule was attached.

Just looked on the website below and it states you get an oil service and plus an oil and inspection service as part of the 2 year £279 plan. To me that is a clear indication that it only applies to fixed servicing since on variable there is no such thing as an oil service.

But if you look in the notes near the bottom it clearly states "All cars must be set to the fixed service regime by the Retailer"

Think that says it all.

My car is on variable. Nothing was mentioned or made clear to me by either dealer or Skoda finance about regimes or any time or mileage limits.  Nothing in writing except an item on my invoice and a letter from Skoda finance to confirm the agreement and what services will be carried out. If Skoda refuses to carry out these services as requested by the car and Skoda Connect, then I think in that case I've been mis-sold this plan.

You have not necessarily been miss sold the plan but the garage has incorrectly set the service settings on the car.

I would speak to them now and get them to confirm what you need to do.

You must be joking, I told them what I wanted, variable servicing set on car, and 1st 2 services for £279. They sold me this. Nothing to indicate otherwise. Clear to me. Don't need further advice thank you.

Your decision but since you say above

I am surprised that you are not ensuring the car is being correctly serviced. An oil change after 2 years and an oil change and inspection after 4 years does not meet Skodas requirements.

RUBBISH variable servicing allows 2 year or 18,500mile service interval according to onboard computer installed and set up from SKODA at the FACTORY.

I am fully aware of that but the 2 service plan purchased by xman does not provide that service, as far as I know Skoda does not sell a service plan for cars set to variable servicing.. Its for 2 services on a car set to fixed servicing. If xman expects them to give the car 2 variable services for the £279 he has paid he will be very disappointed.

Fair enough personally I have taken out a dealer specific service plan covering my first 2 services plus MOT based upon me covering 36,000miles in the first 3 years ownership.

Hope you have better luck with that than a colleague had. Bought a dealer plan for a new Volvo, 3 services, 36,000 miles, over £1000 back in about 2008. After 6 months dealer went bust and that was it. Volvo not interested since it was not their plan. Having paid up front he had to pay again, not happy.

When we bought the Kia we bought a plan but when the paperwork arrived despite being told it was Kia's own plan there was no reference to Kia, only to a company on the Isle of Man. Complained and got an instant refund.

Make last payment in January 2019, 2nd service and MOT August 2020, so will update you then. LOL.:notme:
