HI, I have a 2016 Mk III SE Business and the boot will not open.  when I press the release button at the back of the car you car hear the mechanism whirring but you can't open it.  There's no manual release inside the car and I have no way of getting into the boot other than dropping the rear seats.

 

Any ideas (I'm waiting for Skoda to give me a date when they can look at it that isn't three weeks in the future !!)

If you go to the OP's update on 21 May you will see it's an apparently known issue with the tailgate release.  Hope this helps. 

That figures (says there's a problem with the tailgate pin going out of alignment.  I actually managed to get it to open hit is sounds "harsh" when closing which it would if it's catching on the pin.

Interesting - I've just had a similar but different issue where the micro-switch in the boot release gradually failed so the solenoid wouldn't engage and the boot wouldn't open at all.  New switch under warranty and all is well.

My biggest issue now is actually getting Skoda to give me an appointment to look at it!  I'm due to be going on holiday next weekend so need to get into the boot for luggage (funny that), but Skoda don't seem to have any sense of urgency :(
