BCM Access?

Featured Replies

I'm hoping for some advice following a fruitless search of the internet and forum and review of the workshop manuals.

I'm trying to access the BCM - I have found an image of where it is located, but how is it accessed (and what does it look like)?

I can see the fuse board behind the glove box - is the BCM the box to the left of this, and if so how do I access / remove it (the BCM, not the glovebox)?

It will just be a small metal box, with a wiring socket on the side. Similar size and shape as an engine Ecu.

They're normally held in place with torq screws and have a levered wiring socket.

Why do you want to remove it?

its a large socket with a white lever lock. its a PITA to get at if you have large hands, you can work it out as i have.

its in the top left with white tape wrapped around it in this image.

to remove it push up and to the left on the lever and pull the bcm to the left and down into the footwell

Thanks Ian.

I'm retrofitting heated leather seats and I need to connect the wiring from the seat to the BCM.

Everything else is in place, save the wiring and I've been strugfling to find a photo or diagram of the BCM.

Great - thanks - exactly what I'm looking for.

So, I only need to remove the glove box. Does it drop out to the footwell when the lever is released?

glove box and side cover on the dash will make it easier to get the glove box out. When the lever is released you will need to pull it down into the footwell, its stiff and will need some force to pull it out and down.

Thanks. No not the footwell lights, but retrofitting the heated leather seats. I need to run the wiring from the seats to the BCM.

The seats are great :)

nice! im looking at an alcantara heated set but the dealer was looking stupid money

The alcantara seats look good, they came with the facelift Mk3? I had them on my Mondeo Titanium X Sport - heated and cooled - which I really miss.

Full leather better for two small children though - easier to keep clean!

found this...its in german but you get the idea
