Dreaded iPhone and bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hiya every one

im new to Skodas, and I’m enjoying my 2010 Octavia mk2. I have one niggle, which seems not to be something new, but there is to much information for me to wade though as it just confuses me and brings me to tears lol.

My Skoda has the bolero head unit and has connected to the old users samsung 6, allowing them to make phone calls and play music, but it will not connect to my iPhone SE. I have read that this is due to rSAP incompatibility, but some people on here have changed the blue tooth module that comes with the Skoda. I think I have located the Bluetooth module under the drivers seat. What are the modules I need to look for and are there my additional purchases I need to make to get the Skoda to connect to the iPhone?

Any help would be fantasic

cheers

Simon

Also check to make sure the number of connections hasn't maxxed.

I can’t check to see how users there are contained on the cars computer, and I also can’t delete them

You can do it, but it's hidden somewhere on the menu (I had an Oct 2 with Bolero).

i had issues getting my Sansung S7 connected, I had to do a network reset to get it working.  Strangely if my phone battery ran out whilst connected I then had to go through the same process of resetting the network settings on the phone.

It's a long time since I had an O2 but could the menu be accessed from the Maxidot instead of the Bolero?

I have gone though the maxi dot options and there isn’t  a tab for removing devices, but I haven’t tried a network reset so will give that a shot next time I’m in the car

Its a strange one - I was on verge of swapping the Bluetooth module out as I needed hands free.  I stumbled on an article somewhere online and the person who wrote it said they had their issues resolved by a particular dept at Voda ... but critically didn't say what they did.  I rang Voda a couple of times and eventually managed to get to the same dept and they talked me through it and bingo .. it connected

I then had the battery issue where it stopped connecting if the battery had drained and I would need to reset the settings again.  I then did a firmware upgrade on phone and that solved that issue.

Exactly that - I rang Vodafone customer support and asked for a specific department but cant remember the name of it - critically though I can remember what they did to get it working.

The car would see the phone and try to connect but fail, I would then get a text on my phone about configuration settings. The article suggested getting my phone added to a black list which would stop these messages (which I thought was why it wouldn't connect to the car).  After 30 mins on the phone I had got through to the relevant department and they Blacklisted my number for these configuration messages, but then the phone stopped connecting to the network altogether!

From another mobile sat in the car I rang back and got it 'Un-Blacklisted' and the person on the phone asked why I wanted to do it - I said I was trying to get it connected to my Bluetooth in the car and about these messages.  They talked me through resetting network settings and low and behold it connected - F**king Bingo

Most articles said I needed to swap the Bluetooth, others say it categorically wouldn't work (this was before I found Briskoda) etc
