RUF 'Yellowbird' at the ring

Featured Replies

That certainly does look like a handfull, but takes some skill to get a car like that around in one piece !!

Amazing footage. The Yellow Bird was the fastest road car in 1987, managing a 2 way average of 211mph. The car was based on a slim body carrera with a turbo engine, it had 1 turbo removed and twins added and a custom gearbox with 5 speeds. Even by today's standards it is supercar quick; 1/4 mile 11.7sec @ 134 mph !!!!

The downside, however, is in 1987 they were £127,500.00. This makes the likes of the latest turbo, and GT cars seem cheap, however in that era you could buy an E30 M3 for £22000 and a 911 turbo for just over £30k I think. So as a result they didn't sell many, thank god they did though ! Some enthusiasts held out for an all Porsche model, and in the same year Porsche were relieving customers of £140000 for a delayed Porsche 959. If you were to park that car up and for the last 20 years, you would not lose a penny though !

Love Porsches :)
