Need some help my headlamp got moisture inside

Featured Replies

I had my car washed today and later on one of the headlamps become foggy. after an inspection i ave found out that they are moisture inside and my headlamps cover was open (few days ago i had to replace the headlight bulb). so instantly i turn on the headlights and slowly some of the moistures gone..but later i saw the lamp cover with moistures.

so what can i do to take the all moistures out..shall i keep the COVER open when i will be driving for long (tomorrow i am going to France) or they will disappear in due course of time?

thanks in advance.

Leave the covers on, it should dry with time.  Driving with cover off will allow dirt inside the headlamp housing, bit more critically, if it's wet you'll end up with more moisture in there.

Fogging is normal. Large water droplets are not.  That’s the advice that’s been posted here before. I believe it’s Skoda backed advice as well.

Yup as above some slight fogging inside is considered normal and common.

It's probably worth checking the bulb covers and making sure they are properly tightened on - I made the mistake of not putting one back on properly last year and my LED DRL stopped working for a couple of days. Dried it out and it's been fine since.

Thanks for all the reply guys..they are not fog..they are water..strange..how did they get in there! Light bulb was bit loose and back cover was open..so jet wash forced the water to get in! It gets disappear when headlamp running but comes back when off.

Dry it out with a hairdryer set to warm/heat (but not too hot) through the bulb hatch on the back with the cover off. Then leave some silica pouches inside the headlamp and put the cover back on - probably best to do this when it's going to be parked up for a while i.e. overnight. They should absorb any remaining moisture.

Drive with the Headlights on Dip Beam until it’s cleared.

Thanks ahenners...that's  a good piece of advice. Look at the two pictures of my headlamps..it seems lots of water went in.

KevC_derby..the water disappeared when the headlughts are on. But once the lamp is cool..they come back..

guys,do you think my headlamp is damaged...i had it washed  again...and seen the difference inside..did anyone ever repair their headlamp..who does this kind of job! I didnt do any accident, so how come it should have a leak.

One of the LED headlights on my Octavia Scout was wet inside. It was replaced under warranty.  When mechanic removed it and lifted it up a lot of water came out. Dealer said it was a the wiring going through the connector that was not sealing. Not the seal between the connector and light unit.
