FAbia 2010 1.2 Litre Sport H7 Projector Lens

Featured Replies

Having purchased my sons first S/H car this month I have gone through the Sports model changing the oil, air filter, brake pads etc and carefully looked all round the Fabia impressed with the one owner and its condition with 48,000 miles on the clock.

Went down the road at night and could not believe the crap headlamps fitted to this model. My wife's Yeti has H4 fitted and my Combo van from 2003 has two H7 lamps for dipped plus all four H7 lamps on for high which are superb. Have now put in two  new H7 Osram Night Breakers and things have slightly improved.

Looking more closely I realise the actual lenses are quite opaque and could be losing a lot of the light being dispersed before it even gets through the so called lens?

How easy is it to clean these projector lenses to try to improve things and how does the complete headlamp assembly come off as they show nothing in the Haynes Manual I have just purchased. Can you unscrew the lens assembly from the main unit to clean it up?

Just amazed how these huge companies can produce and sell such appalling light systems and legally get away with it. Even my motorbike headlamp is far superior to the Skoda Fabia H7 system.

I have had no real complaints on this car, compared to every other car I have ever owned...

That said, I slipped in a set of LED bulbs and they are better then normal bulbs as were the Osram night breakers I was running on prior.

Mostly though, modern headlights seem to be sealed at the factory and often, people warm them up in an oven, to open them up.

This does mean removing the whole unit from the car and leads to potential risks of melting and/or warping the units. (I have seen people do this to spray the insides of the headlights darker, for instance).

Hi mrgf

Found another unhappy chap in India who had the same problem with his Fabia and projector lights fitted.

In his photos you have to take the whole front and bumper off the car just to release the headlamp fittings unlike some other earlier models where a clip and lever at the bottom to press and one nylon bolt at the top, hey presto headlamp assembly released.

Have left Osram Night Breakers in the H7 holders for the time being as my son has to drive off to a RAF base. Will dig around to see what other Fabia owners have been up to. It was just a shock to have H7's in my 2003 Combo van that were so much brighter and throwing a better spread beam when dip was selected.

Also the wife's Yeti has H4 bulbs and just by putting in Osram Night Breakers made a big difference with her ordinary reflector lamps.

Will leave the bumper and spoiler alone for the time being.

Hi there, I have a similar problem with my fabias headlights however there is not much that can be done as i believe its now illegal to fit a hid kit or led bulbs to the car regardless of whether the beam pattern is correcr or not. To be honest I think it is a stupid rule because they say this is for safety but if you have poor headlights and cant see much thats more of a risk in my opinion.
