Octavia estate ? good buy.

Featured Replies

A family member of mine is looking for a car to replace his 1998 Xsara which has recently suffered a head gasket and exhaust failure (dropped off !).

I've found him a Skoda Octavia SLXi estate, registered 01/12/00 on an "X". It has the 1.8T engine (150 bhp I think), 1 owner from new, full service history, full leather with heated front seats and a warranted 25K miles. I've driven the car today and it does drive as new. The only downside I can see with the car is the colour (flat green). The car is available for around £3500. Is this a good price and what should we look out for ??

Many thanks

Have a look on the skoda website for used car prices www.skoda.co.uk but if it only has 25,000 miles on the clock them it is hardly run in.

there is one on the site with 40,000 miles for over

I've got this model, albeit with auto. Fantastic car - only downside for me was the attrocious MPG. So I had it converted to LPG.

Two things I don't like: brake dust and rear wash-wipe has leaked twice, other than that it's a great car.

just a passat estate. and i would recon a lot cheeper to buy.

Parker's Guide

Assumes 50,000 miles

I've got a vRS estate,so I cant really comment on specifics of the engine / performance etc.

But - the boot is huge - no-one can believe that this car is based on a Golf chassis. I really feel it is more Mondeo/Passat size than Focus/Golf.

If you need the space and the price is right, I don't think you will go far wrong with a low mileage example like that.

he bought the car today. Seems well pleased with it at the price (£3250) especially when I pointed out the car on skoda.co.uk which had higher mileage on a W for £6995 !!! I drove again and must say it goes well enough, but doesn't compare with my vRS.
