Brake error work stop

Featured Replies

Morning

I have just got in my MK2 Fabia VRS. 2013 plate.

Put the key in the ignition, dash lights up but no power to the engine. Maxidot then displays Brake Error Workshop. I also can not move my gears out of park and on the gear knob (not the dash) the P is flashing. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I can not get it to a garage as i can not move it.

Thanks.

Don't know if this is perhaps same fault, down to a flat battery or a busted fuse perhaps?

I would assume the inability to move the selector from P is a safety feature if the brain believes the brakes aren't operational.

Aside from that, and I know it's pitch black outside, carry out the usual checks to make sure no obvious signs of fluid leak around the wheels and with the brake fluid reservoir, in case there's a leak in the system causing the message to appear.

With the one copied above, it seems to suggest a flat/ flattish battery was the cause, but I've no personal experience of something like this happening on ours. Sorry can't be of more help.

Thanks for your reply.

Im thinking it is a flat battery too, i had seen that above post last night when it happened bit again it was pitch black. The car was perfectly fine at 230pm until i went to drive it at 8pm last night. Ill post back with my findings later on but i have my fingers crossed for it just being the battery.

After hooking up the wifes car to mine and letting the jump leads do their thing the VRS is now alive again. Seems like it was a drained battery. Going to leave the car for a few hours to see if it holds its charge, if not its time to find the issue.

Hopefully all it is.

When the DSG locks for other reasons it tells you how to get it unlocked in the Owners Manual.

That is often just for the Recovery of it though.

fingers crossed just the battery.   Time of year for it. Last day of British Summer time.   You needed to change the clock time back an hour anyway.

Every cloud and all that..

Im guessing it is the battery. It threw up a couple of other errors on the that just went away within seconds. I couldnt catch what the maxi dot said. But it left the tyre pressure symbol on that just went off on its own. I think the car just needs a good run out. It has been sat in the garage for the past 5 weeks so that could have some sort of explination as they could have left doors open on it while it has been having its repairs. If it continues over the next couple of days i will just get it plugged in.

At that age, it could well be due a new battery anyway. Nice to get longer but that is a fair innings!
