Hand brake warning and lamp flashing, Please HELP

Featured Replies

Hi, my car which is an Skoda Octavia II wagon from 2009 1.8tsi and recently started beeping, flashing and giving me a ''hand brake on'' message on the board computer,  when I start jiggling the lever the light and warnings stop flashing. I've checked my brake fluid and calipers which were recently serviced. Please help. Thank you!

Sounds like the handbrake activation switch needs adjusted.

Sorry there is no means to adjust it as I had thought but perhaps it is faulty.

Is the handbrake free to travel all the way off? I know that on Octavias with the jumbo box the handbrake guide strip (for want of a better term) can go stiff, as mine has, and this could be holding the actuator away from the switch. The fix is easy and is a sticky in the Octavia II section of the forum. I need to do mine soon.
