MY19 Skoda Octvia Wagon RS245 Manual - Factory Options

Featured Replies

Greetings all, long time lurker first time 'post-er'.

I was fortunate enough to order a MY19 RS245 Wagon with the 6SPD Manual here in New Zealand (Most drive Autos) so it was special order; just as the Factory begun MY19 models.

Because I'm an impatient type of guy; I ordered before the MY19 Option List was available for the NZ Market. As such there was no option for the Digital Dash and Trailer Assist. Now that there is, I can't change my order otherwise it'll start the clock at zero again and itll be March 2019 before it arrives. I ordered July 2018 with an expected arrival 31 November. So while I will get the MY19 model it wont have the two options I wanted.

The question then is; because its already an available option, would it simply be a process or replacing the Dash (for the Digital Dash) and an ECU reprogram to recognise it and would it be the same for the Trailer Assist function?

Its not technically a retro-fit because it would have been available on the order in any case.

If anyone could help or advise what the requirements would be, that would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the screenshot of the options list showing what Multimedia comes standard. Look at the 2nd Column as thats the Manual option.

Cost Prohibitive, not sure whether the coding skills are available in is either.

From what I have found out (Trailer Assist aside) is that its a direct replacement and I managed to get the erWIN guides to physically swap it out. So in my mind its simply getting the part, fitting it, recoding with my local mechanic who has a VAG and then by the look of it having to re-program the keys as the immobiliser is linked to the Instrument Panel.

Was hoping someone had either done the retrofit to an older model or perhaps knows what coding has to be done to enable it.

Sooooo I have found the part I need; thankfully my mechanic can get into Partslink etc.

The part needed for the exact model is the Virtual Cockpit/Digital Dash with the A Suffix. Perfect.

Now before spending the money on actually ordering one; does anyone know anyone who would know what re-programming would be required on Ross-Tech VCDS? My local mechanic is very helpful so he's offered his unit and time. The Dealer tells me that Skoda has said its "technically impossible", I could accept that if it wasn't an option on MY19 and that people hadn't already done it. Can someone point out the risk or perhaps the reasoning behind them not wanting to do it?

All the pre-requisite PR requirements are there, the COLUMBUS unit etc.
