Featured Replies

Hi everyone and and thanks for youre replys in advance  i have recently become an owner of a 2010 skoda octavia vrs estate diesel but i have a couple of things im trying to sort one of them is the side lights dont seem to work but i have read some where that on the vrs the drls are the side lights can anyone confirm this and can they be activated with vagcom.plus when i open the rear hatch the wiper starts to work until i shut it the bar never came with any manuals if that would have helped thanks again for any help

Correct, the DRL dim to be used as sidelights. If you want the sidelights in the headlights to work, you're going to need to run some wires are they aren't fitted on the vRS :)

Not sure what's happening with the rear wiper. They do have issues with water ingress so it might replacing...

HI langers2k thanks for the quick reply

Ive had the headlights out and theres wire to the side lights and bulbs in the holders but as mentioned there was no owners manuals to tell me what controls do what except the obvious

 plus the radio reception is rubbish not sure if the aerial is amplified also looking into getting an android head unit  will have to look into the rear wiper cant see any signs of leaks tho

You should be able to download the manual here: http://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Model/Octavia_1Z

There are wires inside the headlight as it's the same headlight as non-vRS models. It's the wire between the headlight and BCM that's missing. The BCM is the Body Control Module which amongst other things, controls the external lighting on the car.

You could also check the wires are OK in the rubber between the boot and car body. It's not uncommon for some wires to be damaged on various VAG cars.

Not sure what's happening with your radio, for FM it should have two separate antennas to give good repetition. A good plan might be to get an autoscan done with VCDS or similar to check for fault codes.
