handbrake light playing up

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have recently bought a second hand Skoda fabia MK3 2015 and I am having an issue with the handbrake. When I apply the handbrake the light sometime shows up and sometimes does not. Sometime the light flashes. it is really weird, apart from this the car runs well. I don`t know much about mechanic but what I have found is that it seems to be a sensor problem, however I have no idea how to get to the sensor to check. Anyway could give us some ideas? I bought the car with an agreement with the garage that I could return the car with 30 days is I had a problem. Really like the car but start to feel unsure about it.

Any advice?

Welcome.

Why not just ask them to have that sorted and the switch or connection sorted.

If the Dealer has not the mechanics or technician to do it they will need to get one somewhere,

It should not be anything major.

Is the servicing up to date, the Brake Fluid is due to  e replaced at 3 years.

Is it now over 3 years and out of Manufacturers Warranty & had a MOT?

Hi Offski,

Thanks for your reply. I managed to fix it today. I think the switch has a bad contact and pulled the switch a bit to the side and it is now working. I bought the car from  a shop and it is miles from where I live so I would rather try to fix it than have to go back.

The service has been done and it is not under Warranty anymore. MOT passed without any advisories.

Thanks for your help! Really appreciated!.
