The service plans tend to be basic services, the only advantage of them is for those that want to pay monthly

As many dealers offer cheaper services (than list price) if you phone up to book, pay as you go is normally cheaper

In many cases the plans exclude the parts which wear slower and only need doing every few services.

If you want to budget can always put say £20k aside (or set up a transfer to a deposit account) each month, don't need to line the pockets of Skoda for the privilege of budgeting for you by taking your cash in advance.   Might be just as sensible to add £12 per month (for annual tax) , or make it £50 per month to also cover insurance into your car running expenses (annual bills) fund

Welcome.

?

What age of Octavia, what service is needed and how much servicing do you need or want to pay for because Main Dealer Servicing or Skoda Service Plans might not have much done.

You need to see if Brake Fluid Changes, DSG, Haldex etc is included if you have that needing doing.

This is 3-10 year old cars at participating dealers and you can get cheaper, but this can be a rip off paying a fixed price and yet parts not checked or replaced.

As with 'Service Plan' Servicing.

Hi, thanks for the reply. My car is a 2 ltr tdi with a manual gearbox, with 26k miles on the clock. It needs an oil change for sure, because the car has been telling me to get it done for a while. Looking at OFFSKI link a interim service, with maybe getting the drive belts check as well is all i need.  Regards.

my understanding is that service plans in general, not aimed at skoda .   are a bad idea, captive audience and a "lick and a promise"  especially if busy,  if it were an old family skoda dealership I might trust 'em but not most of the glossy large outfits   ----------------if it must be skoda get it done as standard service + whatever is in the book or what you want,  cabin filters and haldex (not appropriate to you) are favourites for "forgetting"   if it was mine I'd get the g/box  oil done too

26k for gearbox oil change seems a bit ott.... Each to their own but wouldn't be me. Oil and all filters yes but anything else not needed

For a while? Is 26k the 1st service by any chance?

if you're keeping a car longterm why wait 'till 70-80 K to change? get the swarf out early and bar leaks forget it
