Skoda market placement

Featured Replies

Hi,

with the the increasing number of low cost car brands increasing do we think Skoda will position themselves not just as a value/ cost effective brand but will align to compete, for example, with renault’s brands of Dacia and lada.

what leads me to think this is the engine technology has not been permeating through the vag brand as it once was. For example, the 1,4 tsi act engine made it to th3 Octavia but not the Fabia. Also, a vrs Fabia mk 3 has not emerged.

i would appreciate your thoughts.

best wishes,

john

Skoda CZ positions it's self where VW Group tell it to. 'Simply as clever' as that.

The 1.4 TSI ACT was getting discontinued anyway.    Skoda did a limited run of Mk3 Fabia R5 Limited Edition 1.4 TSI 125ps DSG's.

SEAT have just had the 1.4 TSI WLTP Approved in the Alhambra to see it to it's end of life.

The 1.0 MPI, 1.0 TSI, 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI, 1.6 TDI SCR, 2,0 TDI SCR are there as and when VW Group want Skoda using them.

Same with SEAT, VW or Audi.

If German unions had their way, Skoda would probably be closed down.

VW are Building new plants very near the Czech Republic border.

That will get them good cheap skilled employees / workers,  probably from the Hyundai Factory rather than the Skoda ones.

I agree, perhaps I should have used the title where does vag see skoda’s future market position.

i didn’t realise there was a mk3 vrs 125ps model ta!

There was not a Mk3 vRS.  Just a limited R5 1.4 TSI 125ps DSG.  Very limited, a Click Bait exercise.

The Kodiaq vRS 2.0 BiTurbo   240 ps Diesel being a case of Skoda / VW getting some magazine / social media coverage and using the Parts Bin.

MK3 Fabia with a bit more than 110ps might sell well.  Might affect Octavia sales....

A 1.5 TSI EVO.  But then that might also hit the not very good sales of the SEAT Ibiza or the best selling VW Polos.

They could do a Warm Estate Version though.

Thx did they make it in RHD, can't find one on autotrader.

Not that i know of, but seeing as they will be a collectors car since they made so few maybe someone will convert one,

or there might be one Skoda owns someplace.
