Locking Problem

Featured Replies

I ve got a 2010 Skoda Superb Estate 170 CRDI SE ,   Only owned the car about a month, before purchase there was some damage to the passenger side rear door handle which the Dealer repaired prior to purchase.

The problem I have now , is the door on that side will not open on the Fob.   I m aware that the way the locking is set on my car ( not global locking ) is one plip will release just the drivers door and 2 plips will release all the doors.

However doesn't seem to matter how many times I push the release button I cannot get this particular door ( passenger rear ) to open externally on the fob.   You can open the other side and reach across and it will open from the interior handle but not the fob.

If once the door is open,  I then use the Key blade end to rotate the plastic barrel in the door frame edge to set the " child locks "  the door will then open on the fob on second plip like the rest of the doors.

However then obviously no one can open that door from inside the vehicle.

The dealer has had it back and said that I am not understanding the Fob function properly of needing two clicks to open all doors ( I am and have always known this ) he says the car cannot be reset to open on just one click all round ( Fair enough )

Is the problem with the new door mechanism ( Handle was replaced ) I think when the door is shut it somehow dislodges the child lock mechanism as there appears more movement/ play in it than on the drivers side rear door .that all works fine.

Has anyone experienced similar and or is aware of a work around.    At the moment I have to leave the door with the Child lock set to get it to unlock externally on the Fob and walk round to let anyone out that side of the car.

I think it is obvious that the doorlock actuator is disconnected or failed.

Could easiuly be a result of changing the handle and not re connecting the wires.

As you must have some warranty and as the fault was there when you bought the car you must take it back anmd ask tehm to fix this.

don't be fobbed off this time.

Thanks for your response,   Did think this!  After some googling I went in the MFD settings menu convenience and reconfigured the looks to Automatic,   It now seems to work but only after the third blip of the key Fob,  bit odd but , works sufficiently for me not to stress about it anymore.  I did as you suggested think maybe the actuator or some form of rod hadn't been reconnected, but this seems to disprove that idea.
