Recover unlock code for Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi,

will it be possible to recover unlock code for my Columbus Head Unit (taken out from my Skoda Octavia II 2010) using VCDS on the car?

I have never had it : I bought the car used and the code is not written in any of my papers.

Now I'm selling it and the buyer is, obviously, asking for the code.

Thanks!

VCDS wont tell you what the security code.

For that you need Skoda.

If you're near me I can decode it for you. North Yorks area.

Thanks but I'm Italy.

I have vcds , but I don't know where to look.

It should be coded in the car for coupling, shouldn't it?

VCDS (as said) cannot recover the Columbus code, neither from the car nor from the Columbus. You're welcome to look of course, and it would be an interesting exercise I'm sure, but you're not going to get what you want.

Your options are, go to the dealers who will connect the car up to Skoda HQ and recover the code remotely (and possibly charge you), take the Columbus to a car audio shop who will do the same as me and recover the code. Or off to Ebay and pay someone a tenner for your code from the serial number perhaps.

Ok, I have been to the dealer this morning: he says that, since I do not have the Columbus anymore (I sent it to the buyer off ebay) he cannot do it.

Can someone confirm this?

I would find all the situation funny, wasn't that the guy who bought it has no code now...

That is correct. They need the unit installed in the vehicle and proof of ownership and identity to release security information.

As Rusty suggested, find an eBay seller and give them the serial number...

Now I'm really curious though: how would you have done that?
