Boot Button Not Working

Featured Replies

Hi,

On my 2007 VRS hatch the boot will not open using the soft switch on the boot - part 5E0827566. It opens with the button the remote.

Probably water ingress corrosion or something. Can I take the switch off from outside with trim removal tools or do I need to remove the inside panel which looks a PITA ?

Appreciate your help

Pretty sure it's bolted in from the inside so I think the boot trim needs to come out.

arse ! ok thanks !

Does your boot open if you first open either of the rear doors? Try it and report back

Nope the button on boot doesnt work at all even if rear doors open , and often takes 2 attempts with key fob to open boot. Sounds like something metalic  floating around inside when I shut the boot !

Ah, OK, so it's not the drivers door switch problem that a lot of older cars now suffer from.

Probably the switch. It's not too difficult to get the interior trim out. Use some cheap wooded spatulas from a pound shop or similar. Getting it back can be a pig but if you take your time and ensure the metal spring clips are lined up it goes back fairly easily.

I replaced the switch and still doesnt work. So guess either the wiring or the lock bolted to the boot at fault, arse.
