can you code DRL's to be active with dip beam on

Featured Replies

I have a 59 plate facelift octavia elegance and im looking to code the DRL's to stay on with dip beam on. Does anyone know if this is possible and how?

thanks in advance

Construction rules say drls must go off when dipped headlights are on.  So it is illegal to do what you want to do.

As above, they should turn off with the dipped beams.

In short, it's because they are too bright and will cause glare at night to other drivers.

interesting- mines has auto lights and DRLS are always on, although they are not as bright when dripped beam is on

That's correct behaviour on the vRS. The LED DRL are dual use so at full brightness they function as DRL but once dimmed they are considered parking lights or sidelights.

The OP doesn't have a vRS so there are no LED DRL. Instead, the DRL function is done by a 21W halogen bulb next to the fog and the sidelight is a separate W5W bulb in the headlight cluster.

thanks for the info

sorry, forgot i left this post, thanks for the information. Guess i wont be coding them to be on all the time then

People will think you're driving around with your front fog lights on if you try and wire the DRL's to remain on with dipped headlights.

We all know what people think of those that deliberately turn on their front fog lights when it's not foggy :D
