First time Skoda owner. Hello!

Featured Replies

9Hi all. Making my first post here on the eve of collecting my 2015 '15' plate VRS diesel. All I know of the spec is the obvious and visible stuff ascertained when viewing and test driving, so far: Candy White, black (with silver) full leather, Amundsen. I will delve into any other things tomorrow - the sticker with build codes is in the front of the handbook pack. 47k miles, almost new Bridgestone Potenzas all round (although Michelin Crossclimate+ ready and waiting to go on for the winter). This will be my first Skoda but my parents have a Corrida Red Superb Sportline 4x4 diesel and a Tungsten Silver Citigo SE.

Looking forward to contributing and getting the benefit of all the knowledge here. I'm coming from a Volvo V60 T6 AWD with 329bhp, so rather a difference in performance and fuel consumption!

Welcome.

I noted what you left to come to the octavia.

Swmbo wants one of those polestar next.  I went from a superb awd 200+ to a citigo. Now on a v50 t5, the fuel bills are justifyable. Just.

Oddly not looking forward to winter as it's fwd, not awd.

Would love to hear your views on exiting volvo to the the rs. Is it an economic move or desire?

I'll be coming back to the octavia or superb on the next cycle, unless the volvo is bullet proof.

Welcome!  That's a bit of a change but you're getting into a great car with the Octavia

Hi both. I've had a few Volvos over the years and love them. In fact I surprised myself by not having another but the VRS seems to be pretty much the ideal all-rounder. Having come from a 3 litre T6 petrol with the Polestar optimisation remap and 329bhp, 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds and some serious mid range shove, I was mildly concerned about missing that performance and lovely 6 cylinder sound. I will, sometimes, but so far the VRS has shown itself to be swift enough. It will, however, be significantly cheaper to run. 30 quid a year road tax vs 530 quid (was paying 47 quid a month) and 45+ mpg vs around 23mpg. The V60 was likely to need some significant spending too, I think, as it got older. The full on Polestar models are lovely, well worth having if you get the chance. I will have another Volvo one day, but for now I'm really pleased with the Octavia and my other half really likes it as well.

Prior to the V60 T6 I had a V50 T5 and loved it. Good handling, great performance and that unique 5 cylinder sound. Enjoy!

Welcome me duck born and bred in God's finest County myself. What part are you based, might be able to get you over the departed VOLVO with a spin in my 336bhp Octavia.:D
