1.6 TDI Wont start with new fuel filter

Featured Replies

Looking for some pointers.

Just changed the fuel filter on my 2012 1.6 TDI Fabia. And now it won't start.

Any ideas what I may have or may not done.

I followed these instructions

You're probably hauling air through it, which isn't great for the fuel pump which needs to be lubed. Remove the filter, top up with fresh diesel, now crank it over. If your battery is half decent it'll catch and fire up. Do short bursts in case you burn out the starter motor, say 5 seconds.

Thanks for the Reply. I've managed to get it started.

Disconnected the outlet on the filter. Ignition on and off a few times until Diesel came through. Reconnected pipe. Then ignition on and off a few times and hey presto.

The classic 5 minute job that never is.
