Soaking wet drivers footwell

Featured Replies

Hi there been reading through possible reasons for this but unsure. I've had a soaking wet floorwell for weeks

Over the last few years of owning the car the antifreeze in expansion tank has been virtually on minimum but it was fine.  In summer it lost a fraction of water so light came in dash. I topped up a little and since then no problems. Soon after had water on footwell but I don't think it's too with that

I put k seal in just in case

I think the leak was coming from sunroof drains. I took wheel and liner off there was mud blocked behind it so I cleaned it but couldn't see where any drainage holes are ? I ran a net curtain elastic through the drain holes at the top it goes quite a way but then jams somewhere?  Should it go right through?  Thanks

If you look on the pillar between the hinges you'll see a rubber tube sticking out. That's the drain for the sunroof, you need to squeeze the pipe and what's stuck in there will eventually come out. I've added 2 pictures of the locations of the drains front and rear.

Brilliant that's exactly what I did. There was soft mud squishing out of the rubberpipe ends I pushed a curtain track down the sunroof holes then poured water in and it eventually came out washing the rest of the debris out. I think that's sorted it I'll just wait for next downpour but there was water all the time on the well and I used a spongy to soak up.  There's hardly any now I put electric fan heater in for while and fairly dry cheers

Try to unplug drain holes on both sides of scuttle panel (You might need to remove it). Quick punch with screw driver should solve your issue.

Unrelated to the water question...

Why have you not topped up the coolant to "max" over the "years" youve had the car.. has it not been changed???

Hi Mac I've had the antifreeze changed 2 years ago but it was left on minimum in the tank I know it should be between the min-max I'll leave till summer and change againcheers
