Featured Replies

Hi everybody

I have a mark 2 Octavia vrs diesel 07 reg

with a problem

I was driving down the motorway at 70 and the car all off a sudden had no power and cut out no warning signs nothing just died on me about 5 mins after being stuck on hard shoulder the turned the key and i was able to drive home with no problems.

next day got Into the car it started cut out straight away wouldn’t start this time had a warning sign that was the tyre set, esp off, and a steering wheel light,

went and brought a brand new battery  went for a drive round the block lost power about 3 times same lights come on car would cut out while driving for a few seconds,  but then start on it’s own again really strange.

left it over night just got back into car could drive it this time then light come on again but this time the glow plug light was flashing and seemed to have no power.

juat got back home turned car off and on and now have no warning lights and car seems normal again is this something I need to worry about, I really don’t no a great deal about cars and I’m praying this close to Xmas it’s not about to destroy my bank balance,

thanks in advance any advice I would be greatfull for

cheers Rich

Could be crankshaft sensor?

A crank sensor is an electronic device used in an internal combustion engine, both petrol and diesel, to monitor the position or rotational speed of the crankshaft. This information is used by engine management systems to control the fuel injection or the ignition system timing and other engine parameters.

Need to get it scanned with  vcds as it might have some stored fault codes

Hi mate is that the only one that works on these cars or would a launch code reader work thank you

Loads work but vcds is the genuine vw tool

No it's not. VCDS is a third party tool made by rosstech. However, it is vag specific and very good.

The genuine tool used by dealers is currently Odis :-)

Any generic obd scanner should work but you might get more information using VCDS.

Still haven’t got the car sorted not very mechanical but there is a silver box underneath the steering wheel, auto mechanic has said that was the problem more than likely due to a cheap

Stereo that was fitted, anyway he changed part yesterday and still wouldn’t start his back today will update this thread once I ever get the car up and running again.

His a friend of a friend lol but his here 1 day gone for a month then back haha bloody nightmare to be fair

I think its mostly likely that the injectors are failing. I had the same issue a few years. Contacted Skoda UK they told me to take it to the nearest dealer, they checked and replaced them after getting approval from Skoda UK.
